My good friends over at Shout! Factory were awesome enough to send me yet again ANOTHER great Blu Ray release.
This time, we head back to Delos. Remember Delos? That theme park resort where the animatronic robots came to life and killed all the visitors in a violent orgiastic blood bath. Yeah, THAT place. Well, two years later it’s up and running, and BETTER than ever! They promise that this time…nothing will go WRONG. (imagine now – my voice echoing “wrong, wrong, wrong”)
So, what are we waiting for?
To see how wrong it all goes, pick up this Blu Ray. The disc itself is a little thin on the extras (trailer, radio spots and still gallery) HOWEVER, the film’s transfer is stunning! The grooviness of the era is really present. The colors pop and the film is crisp. Now, I hadn’t seen the film in several years and it’s a ton of fun. Some great action, super cool sets (the Lyndon Johnson Space Center is featured prominently) and I mean, who doesn’t want to watch a fantasy love scene with Yul Brynner and Blythe Danner? If you said “no”, then you are in denial.
Lastly, I’m after the film’s producer (Paul Lazurus) to answer a few questions about the production. He was my former film school professor and I’m hoping to hear from him soon.
