Gre-Gory The Vampire Bat

Still reading through the 80s Amazing Spider-Mans, still in 1980. As I was reading tonight, I came across this ad for Mattel’s Gre-Gory the Vampire Bat.

Gre-Gory (not Gregory, but Greg Gory, get it) was a pretty standard vampire bat with some un-standard features, the best of which was his see-through chest with blood-pumping action. Not much by today’s standards, but it certainly seemed like a lot when you were reading that comic book for the twentieth time.

On my holy grail list. Some day I will pull the trigger and spend the money. I have never spotted one in the wild, only on ebay.

You’d have thunk that, as a kid named Gregory, I would’ve had this back then- but no so. Guess I didn’t have any relatives with a sense of humor to give it as a birthday or Christmas gift. Which is a shame since how many products are out there with my namesake?

I had one of these and it seemed cool on tv, but when I got it, it was “Hm. What do I do with it.” Not unlike the Big Trak I had.

Would have gone great with a Mattel Shogun Warrior Godzilla.
