With the awesome news released earlier today that Shout! Factory was releasing Futureworld on Blu-Ray next month it seemed the opportune time to share this 1973 short documentary on the making of Westworld.

Is it just me or does the narrator for the documentary sound like John Erwin (He-Man)? I’ve looked it up on Internet Movie Database but it doesn’t list any credit for the narrator.

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

Watching this vid, I’m reminded of how I simply love every single aspect of this movie.

The actors, the story, the look and feel of the resort, That Music!, the electronic guns, the Eyes!, the face-mask, the movie as a Six-Million-Dollar-Man-ish prequel kinda-sorta, and Yul Brynner as the greeter of a great vacation in robot hell, and why The Retroist is the place to be for cool throwbacks to 70s slices of awesomecake.

That narrator might be a robutt, for all we know.

  2. I agree with you both, Plcary amd Atari Adventure Square! I can remember seeing it for the first time in my youth, sadly it wasn’t at the 62 Drive-In but on TBS one Sunday morning. This was a rare film where my Father and I didn’t see eye to eye on the merits of the movie, he hates Westworld. Very odd.
