The Dukes of Hazzard LCD watch from 1981

I made a trip to a monthly flea market event a couple of weeks ago in search of great deals on vintage bits of pop culture gold. After all, I had scored at this flea market a couple times in the past so my spirits were high. This trip however yielded no 1970s action figures or Universal Monsters for my collection. A couple of the dealers that offer the kind of things we love here at The Retroist were absent this time. Not wanting to go home empty handed I did find this very cool Dukes of Hazzard watch made by Unisonic in 1981. It appears new in the box with very few signs of aging for a 32 year old timepiece. There was also the black plastic lcd watch available. I chose the classier stainless steel version here that comes in the nice plastic container. The battery was dead of course but I could try to replace that at the jewelry counter. Some of these watches had a musical alarm that played the Dixie melody from the General Lee’s horn in the show. This watch does not seem to offer that amenity.

I love retro toys, television, movies and just about anything from the 70s and 80s.I frequent flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales and auctions hoping to nab my next pop culture trophy.

  1. I had this….
It was my first watch, got it when I was 6. I also had a duke wrstband launcher deal, which kinda resembled a wristwatch. It had a small plastic replica of the general lee, a slide-out ramp, and a launching mechanism.
I have some old photos somewhere of me opening one of the 2, though I’m not sure if it’s the watch or the launcher.

  2. Plcary, once again you have found an awesome item! I really need to team up with you one day and let you show me all of the cool things I’m missing during my searches. :)
