Retro Radio Memories – Flash Gordon: On The Planet Mongo (1935)

Welcome to another installment of Retro Radio Memories. This week for your audible enjoyment we are presenting the first chapter in what ended up being a 26 episode run for the Flash Gordon radio serial. The series was originally entitled The Amazing Interplanetary Adventures of Flash Gordon when it debuted over the airwaves back on April 22, 1935 and features the vocal talents of Gale Gordon as Flash himself with Maurice Franklin as Dr. Zarkov and Bruno Wick as Ming the Merciless. The broadcasts were adapted from the Alex Raymond comic strips that ran in newspapers every Sunday, all but the last two episodes of the series that is, I won’t spoil it all since we still have 25 more broadcasts to go but Flash and Dale happen to meet up with another Alex Raymond creation!

So why not take a moment for yourself and sit in your favorite chair, turn down the lights and travel back to a simpler time with Retro Radio Memories as we join Flash Gordon ‘On The Planet Mongo’!
