Retroist Podcast – Episode 122 – Teen Wolf

On today’s show I talk all about 1980s film classic, Teen Wolf. I talk about the stars, the plot, the sequels and the lack of character likability. I am joined this week by Vic Sage with a new “Why Should I Know this Person?” and Doug McCoy. Music on the show was provided by Peachy (the Jerry Levine of Wales), if you have musical needs, why not contact Peachy at peachy@retroist.com. And “like” him on his Facebook Page.

  1. Atari Adventure Square says:

I’m tempted to give this movie another go after listening to the podcast.

It was a sorely disappointing theatrical moment, following MJ Fox’s stratospheric high of BttF.
The years might be kinder to its memories in my head.

Though as you mentioned, this is one of those movies where the main characters aren’t very sympathetic and, as I remembered listening to this, is one reason it lacked rewatchability, later on VHS.

Also, saw this with my dad at the time – at the same theater where, mere months earlier, we thrilled to watch Marty McFly travel temporally backwards and forwards – and maybe the fact we wanted more of the first movie, and less of the second affects my opinion today.

  2. I never liked this movie. Which is odd because it has Michael J Fox. I mean, who doesn’t like the guy??

I think you might have touched on the reason that I don’t like it; don’t like the characters. Just not warm and friendly folk.

By the way, good job on the podcast; the contributors did great too.
