Western Electric TV Phone

Western Electric TV Phone

In 1969, this was the cutting edge TV phone that Western Electric was promising us. Like EVERY camera phone ever made, this phone never caught on, I am starting to think and maybe this is just me, but perhaps people don’t want to be on a camera while on the phone?

  1. Recently my wife had to travel out of town two weeks in a row for work. We had never done voice chatting before, but since she had her iPad and I had mine we ended up trying Facetime for the first time. Mostly I thought it was a gimmick, but the kids really enjoyed it. For people who live great distances apart and do not see each other regularly, I can see the attraction. The next time I visit my grandmother in Chicago I may get her set up on Skype so she can talk to the kids.
