Mattel Electronics TRON Video Games Commercial (1983)

Deadly Discs
I spent many, many Summer hours playing the Tron titles on the Intellivision back in my youth. Tron Deadly Discs is hands down one of my favorite Intellivision titles, I rank it up there with Night Stalker in terms of greatness. It is certainly a far better title than the Atari 2600 version, make sure to follow that link to see what the Retroist says about that!

A lot of those Summer day memories came back to me when I stumbled on this Mattel Electronics commercial from back in 1983 crowing about their Tron game releases.

Tron Deadly Discs had it’s initial game design done by Don Daglow (Intellivision World Series Baseball) with Steven Sents brought in for further design and programming and the cartridge ended up selling over 300,000 units. By the way, it appears that in the Spring of 1983 if you had bought both TRON Deadly Discs and Adventures of TRON for the Atari 2600 you could have sent off for a special Tron Joystick!
