Well this bit of news this morning completely made my day, I feel like I’m walking on cloud nine. Turner Classic Movies, Fathom Events, and Universal Studios are teaming up to celebrate 100 years of Universal Pictures! Four movies have been picked and will play at select theaters across the nation, one night only.
From the Press Release:
“Coming this fall NCM Fathom and Turner Classic Movies celebrate 100 years of Universal Pictures with four specially selected American classics restored for the big screen. Each event will be shown in movie theaters for only one night.
The series will include a specially produced TCM introduction by film historian, author and TCM host Robert Osborne. Osborne will take audiences behind the scenes for each of these American classics with unique insights into the making of these classics.
TCM Events Series Presents the following classics:
The Birds – Wednesday, September 19th
Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein (Double Feature) – Wednesday, October 24th
To Kill A Mockingbird – Thursday, November 15th”
There is not a movie on that list that I wouldn’t want to see…though if my local theater doesn’t at least carry Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein I might have to send them a stern e-mail. Ha, ha.
To see if a theater in your area is going to be hosting the events make sure to follow the Fathom Events link provided up top.
