Little Rascals Follies – Stop Motion Remake?! (1970s)

I’m pretty sure that most of us that visit the site have one or two fond memories of watching the Our Gang/Little Rascals shorts that aired early mornings or late at night in our youth. Until today though I wasn’t aware that in the 1970s, Charles King had decided to redo the classic series of shorts using the original audio but using stop motion clay caricatures instead of actors. A HUGE thanks to Cartoon Brew for the heads up on this and to Cartoon Research’s YouTube Channel for uploading this for our amusement. It’s kind of scary though too.

  1. Hmm, I left a comment here but it seems to have disappeared. I just wanted to say that I loved this video. I was a fan of the Our Gang shorts when I was growing up and this stop motion “remix” was fun to watch. It seemed to freshen up the old shorts in a fun way.

    Nice find.

  2. Paxton, thanks for the kind words!

I enjoy this short…but something about it also gives me the creeps. Ha, ha. Perhaps it’s because I can picture the Our Gang actors in my mind but combining it with the visuals of the stop motion just unsettles me?
