Basil Rathbone TV Spots For The Leisy Premiere Theater (1963)

Thanks to my Father I was raised on Basil Rathbone films, it didn’t matter if it was alongside Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson to his Sherlock Holmes or as Sir Guy of Gisbourne in the Adventures of Robin Hood. We watched them together, normally on a Sunday afternoon thanks to TBS or the fantastic Tulsa 23 that we picked up on our rabbit eared television.

I was surprised to stumble over these TV spots for the Leisy Premiere Theater, thanks to TV Days YouTube Channel, we can watch the classic Thespian host a motion picture brought to the viewer thanks to Leisy Beer.

Ah, do I miss the days before infomercials. You don’t have shows like this on local TV channels anymore. Our local CBS affiliated showed over 4 hours of infomercials a couple Saturdays ago. Back in the day, they used to show movies or reruns of “Mannix” or “The Big Valley”. No wonder people get cable/satellite nowadays!
