What I especially like is how it furthers the tale of Jack Burton following the cliff-hanger end of the movie.
I can almost imagine a retiscent partnership with the weird monster as Jack is forced to follow it into a hive to retrieve the keys to his truck.
Of course, all heck breaks loose.
