Playing with the Commodore 64

The Photo of the Day comes to us from -foxhusky- and it is a picture of his nephew way back in 1987 playing games on his C64. This photo really takes me back to my days sitting in a ergonomically punishing chair with my hand almost bleeding from using a jostick for 10 hours straight — It was paradise.

Is that actually a Commodore 128? I realize it’s essentially the same machine – but in a slightly more modern casing.

  3. Retro Justin says:

Vin, they did make a Commodore 64c which up close, looks like this: http://www.old-computers.com/museum/photos/commodore_64c_1.jpg

Which the exception of the short shorts, I would have envied this kid then.

Hi, thanks for picking my photo as ‘Photo of the Day’. Also thanks for the comments ;-)) The computer in the photo is a Commodore 64 II.

  6. vinvectrex says:

Oh, I see. The C128 had function keys at the top and a numeric keyboard. Never knew about the Commodore 64 II or the 64c – but I love the look of it!

  7. darrenf says:

Peter, never heard of the Commodore 64 “II” Perhaps you are confusing that with the Commodore 64 C? Or was that how the C was marketed in countries outside the U.S. ?

  8. Peter FoxHusky says:

darrenf, The Commodore 64 C and the Commodore 64 II are the same, they used the “II” in Germany (and I think The Netherlands, where I come from). See: http://c64-wiki.com/index.php/C64C

Very warm photo of better times.

    That’s a nice set-up, though I assume no monitor?

  10. Peter FoxHusky says:

Dar, no monitor but a color TV for both the C64 and for just watching television.
