Wackies Cereal Commercial (1965)

General Mills released Wackies cereal to store shelves back in 1965 and it vanished from those same shelves in 1966. It might have had something to do with it having banana flavored marshmallow bits. Blech!

It’s not that strange a notion, people often put pieces of banana in their cereal. Hell, even twinkies were originally banana flavored until they switched to vanilla due to war shortages.

I remember these were available for a very short time in Sacramento, CA., (which was a test market I’ve been told)…they appeared…and they were gone within months never to return.

I well remember Wackies cereal! For the relatively short time they were made, they were my favorite (even displacing Lucky Charms). The banana flavored charms were delicious!
