The Enid Blyton Book of Brownies

Enid Blyton’s, The Enid Blyton Book of Brownies, follows the adventures of three brownies, Hop, Skip and Jump. I had a copy of this book when I was a kid, but had not thought about these wonderful hobs until Jolly Wolly posted a cover scan of the colorful 1967 edition of the book in the Retroist Image Pool. Wonderful and colorful it filled me childhood dreams of helpful little creatures and their secret world.

About The Retroist

The Retroist is like a BBQ on a bun without the bones. You're only human daddy. Chomp!

Very nice. This remindeded me of something I hadn’t thought of in many years; Walt Kelly (Pogo) did a comic series featuring a different team of Brownies. Here is a link to an online version of Dell Four Color comics featuring the Brownies:

  2. I love this style of drawing. It takes my back to days laying on my stomache reading children’s books and coloring at my grandparents as a kid. I feel like I’ve been slapped square in the face with a wet glove of nostalgia!
