Kenner Super Powers Commercial (1983)

Along with Hasbro’s The Transformers, the Kenner Super Powers Collection ranks up there easily in the top 5 list of my favorite toys. I didn’t have a lot of them when I was younger though, in fact I had just Aquaman and Darkseid.

What? You think Aquaman couldn’t take Darkseid in a fight? Yeah…your right but here is an awesome commercial from back in 1983 that showcases one of the toys I desperately wanted at the time.

Is it just me or did Batman just really blow off the rest of the Super Friends?

A big thanks to Seanmc31076 for uploading this commercial over on YouTube!

You know, the Super Friends outnumbered the super villians about 2-to-1, and one of those 1 was the Penquin who went waddling into battle. Can you really call that a fair fight? I with you on Batman blowing off the rest of the Super Friends. I was a Marvel guy, so I never had any of these, but I do remember the commercial.

  2. Doug, when I saw that commercial I thought the very same thing. Of course they also have Braniac…so he probably evens the odds quite a bit. For the record I was a Marvel guy as well and I certainly had a lot more Secret Wars toys…though I never got the Doom Tower playset.

@Vic, I had the Doom Tower. It was more awesome than words can say.
@Saturday, while I had the Doom Tower, I also had Spider-Man and Captain America. That’s it. How could they fight bad guys when I didn’t have any bad guys for them to fight? In your words, thanks Mom & Dad.

  4. From Marvel’s Secret Wars figures, I had Wolverine and Iron Man. At the time, I had no idea who these guys were. I was born a DC fanboy.

    Now, I’m leaning towards Marvel.

And, yes, now I know who Iron Man and Wolverine are.

Once again, thanks Mom & Dad.

I didn’t know who Magneto was until Secret Wars. When I learned about him, I planned an epic battle between him and Iron Man. Doesn’t everybody think Magneto and Iron Man should fight?

Best battle between Magneto and Iron Man EVER, was in West Coast Avengers. At the start of the fight Iron Man flies off while Magneto pounds on the Avengers. Then when it looks like Magneto won Iron man show back with this huge metal machine and throws it at Magneto. Magento laughs his head off and jerks around Iron Man who throws the machine at Magento. It turns out it the machine Iron Man had was made of lead. Iron Man I/Magento 0; Game. Set. Match.
