There are lots of great reasons to see the new Muppet movie in theaters now, including “Small Fry” a new Toy Story short that preceeds the film. I found that I laughed more during “Small Fry” than I do in most feature length comedies. But, for me, the best part was that “Small Fry” includes a toy based on the movie “Condorman” – a largely forgotten Disney film from 1981. Condorman
starred Michael Crawford as a cartoonist turned into a bumbling superhero. I was introduced to Condorman via a novelization I picked up at grade school long before I got around to seeing the actual film. DVDs of Condorman are hard to come by – but it is available on Amazon’s Video on Demand service. Do yourself a favor and check it out. There are precious few of us Condorfans out there, and I could use some company.

Nice! I need to see this short film! I’ve been a Condorman fan forever and just recently got the chance to watch it again after nearly 20 years. You can’t beat a comic book artist turned super-spy!!! Plus the inventions and vehicles are really neat and fun!!!
When I spotted him I was almost beside myself. The whole gag of silly premiums just cracked me up BTW and I could have watched a whole film centered around the concept.
Condorman needs to return. Now I have more of a reason to go see the Muppet movie.
I applauded when Condorman is introduced…then I had to explain to my wife who Condorman was. Sigh.
I was just trying to track this down on DVD the other day! Thanks for the heads up re: Amazon Video on Demand.
I have always had a special place in my heart for Condorman. About two years ago for Christmas, my family decided to have an old fashioned family nacho night (as we did when we were kids). We watched Condorman on VHS. It’s still pure gold.
I caught this joke during the cartoon as well, and then wondered if I was just imagining it. It seemed so obscure that I actually had to google for condorman & “small fry” to see if I was right, which led me here. Good to know I wasn’t the only one!
