Shout! Factory and Richard Pryor Estate to Partner on Career-Spanning CD/DVD Box Set

More great news from Shout! Factory this week. No details in the release on what they will be putting out, but I can’t wait to get details and as soon as I do, I will share them here.

Los Angeles, California – Shout! Factory and Indigo, Inc. announced today an alliance to produce and distribute an as-yet-untitled Richard Pryor box set, which will feature the legendary comedian’s most beloved and well-known concert material, alongside previously unreleased content. The set will contain both audio and video performances, including complete concert films, as well as an accompanying book with liner note essays, rare photographs and a detailed discography.

This announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Jennifer Lee Pryor, CEO of Indigo, Inc.

“We are thrilled and honored with the opportunity to celebrate the career of one of the greatest comedians of our time. We look forward to working with Jennifer to produce a collection that best represents Richard’s genius and tremendous influence on the world of comedy,” stated Shout! Factory’s founding partners.

“I’m more than thrilled to have Richard’s groundbreaking works available to everyone. From his classic routines to fresh, undiscovered material, this box set will provide a rich overview of his comedic vision. In this loving, intimate collection everyone can experience Richard in his full, outrageous force.” Jennifer Lee Pryor.

Shout! Factory will begin developing the product immediately, with plans to release in Summer 2012. More details about the contents of the product will follow in the coming months.
