Star Wars: A New Hope – Blu-ray/VHS Comparison

I cannot wait to get my hands on the upcoming Blu-Ray release of the original Star Wars trilogy. The extras look impressive and from what I have seen, the transfer looks crisp and super clean. I found this comparison video on YouTube and it is interesting, because I had heard, as the author of the video points out, that they were going to fix lightsaber color issues in the release. So if this is the actual blu-ray, why does the lightsaber still have the greenish color instead of blue? Perhaps they are not going to fix the color or perhaps this is from the HD broadcast of the movie that ran in Europe a couple of years ago. Time will tell.

If you have not done so yet, make sure you order your copy of Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray] today!

I’m very excited about the Blu-Ray. Yet, I must admit – the 1984 VHS version looks better than I expected. They must not have been using my old Fisher 2 head VCR for this comparison.

  2. I’m not going to buy the same stuff from the same people another time. It does look much better, for sure.

I’d rather buy something new, such as the book that just came out with all the references to the 80s (Ready Player One – great book by the way).
