Let me state in no uncertain terms, I believe that Brian Selznick’s Caldecott award winning book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is hands down one of the most important children’s book of all time. Those of you that have perhaps read this magical and quite moving tale will already know this. For those of you that have not had the privilege to experience it for yourself I can only humbly plead that you visit your local bookstore or library and obtain a copy for your own enjoyment…or you can wait until November 23rd when Martin Scorsese’s film adaptation hit the silver screen!
I find myself torn, I trust Martin Scorsese like no other motion picture director alive, but I’m sad to see the title of the book changed to merely Hugo. Hugo stars Chloe Moretz (Let Me In), Emily Mortimer (Shutter Island), Jude Law (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), Ray Winstone (Beowulf), Christopher Lee (The Wicker Man), Sacha Baron Cohen (Sweeney Todd), and Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List).
I’m just kidding by the way on the statement of waiting until the movie hits theatres…go out right now and get the book!
