The NBC Mystery Movie

The NBC Mystery Movie was the name for an American television series that was broadcast by NBC from 1971-77. The show was often divided into several versions that were broadcast on different nights as either The NBC Sunday Mystery Movie or The NBC Wednesday Mystery Movie. The Mystery Movie was what is called a “wheel show” which means it rotated several programs within the same time period throughout the season. During its initial 1971-72 season, it rotated three detective dramas that were broadcast during Wednesday nights for 90 minutes, from 8:30-10:00 p.m.

Those 3 original dramas were:

– McCloud, starring Dennis Weaver

– Columbo, starring Peter Falk

– McMillan & Wife, starring Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James

The different investigative flavors were great to sample.
Recently rewatched some McMillan And Wife and it was a fun romp of the Nick and Nora variety (until the aberrant cast change decision taken in the later seasons).

And haven’t seen the oddly psychedelic McCloud show in a while.

    Oh, and one more thing…
    I think you know.
