Bubble Bobble by Sean Hartter

The twin bubble dragons, Bub and Bob, from Taito’s Bubble Bobble are extremely underrated. The game is challenging and its unique bubble-centric gameplay has yet to be copied.

Which is which?

  1. Awesome illustration as always, Sean!
I came late to the addictive madness of Bubble Bobble, my first game was on a banged up unit at a local AMC theater. You are quite right, the game IS indeed extremely underrated. :)

Oh man. I just found this game in a pile of old roms. I hadn’t played it in years (decades, maybe). It is one of the very few games I actually paid for on the C64 — I wrote up a mini-review on 0x38, http://0x38.com/151292_By_Platform/151296_C64/152268_Bubble_Bobble — and I spent hour upon hour on this one as a kid. I still remember that catchy song, clear as day, but firing up the NES version (my C64 disk image wouldn’t actually load) sure brings back memories.
