Mortal Kombat: Defenders Of The Realm (1996)

Now I kind of have Mortal Kombat on the mind as I’ve been playing way too much of it on the PS3 these last few days butI like to step back and let my thumb rest and remember when I could watch the Mortal Kombat animated series on the USA Network on Saturday morning!

Thanks to Wicked18769 for uploading this episode on YouTube!

I’m not quite sure I would ever believe though that Raiden would ever say, “Then kick your jets and jam!”

  1. The Doc says:

I just got finished marathoning the new Mortal Kombat game that just came out and I have to say that if you haven’t played it yet, you truly are missing out on the best fighting game ever, especially within this series.

I was a big fan of the PS2 MK games, especially when they were throwing in all of the extras, such as a MK chess game, MK cart racing game, and a MK themed tetris clone.

But this new game clearly was a labor of love. No small detail was left out. I have just finished playing it for about that past 4 hours and I simply just kept finding secrets and new ways to enjoy this game. There are x-ray moves that show in great detail bones breaking and skulls crushing and necks breaking! And these are not even the Fatalities!

The background alone will have you staring at them while you are trying to play. The single player story mode is to die for, especially if you like the MK universe in the least.

Then they threw in the challenge tower! Imagine this: Mileena hand made a teddy bear for Scorpion and then tried to give it to him put he tells her he cant stand teddy bears and he hits it. Of course that pisses her off and she grabs the bear and now you must beat Scorpion as Mileena, but you have to hold on to the teddy bear the entire fight! It is this type of hilarity that this game embraces to the nth degree.

Please play this game, even if you just rent it. I could go on and on about the hundreds of other things that await you in this package, such as hundreds of graves in the Krypt that you unlock with the money you make playing the game. And the things you unlock are amazing. It is not just music and pictures of unused game art, trust my on this as I do not want to spoil it for you!

  2. I rented the game from Redbox and I have to say, even though I am horrible at it, the story mode alone is worth the price of admissions. Cheesy and wonderful — a worthy game.
