Every Star Trek TV Series Coming to Netflix Streaming Starting in July

Trek fans rejoice, because we finally have a date when we will start getting the various Star Trek TV franchises through Netflix. According to Trek Movie:

Firstly Netflix confirmed they will be streaming every episode of every season for all five live-action Star Trek series: the original Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise will all become available on July 1st. DS9 will launch on October 1st. TOS and Enterprise will be available in HD.

This alone to me is worth the price of admission and I am looking forward to crawling through the each series chronologically. The only question is will I run up against my newly opposed bandwidth cap by doing so? If so look for me at my local public wifi spots, I will be the person sipping Andorian brandy staring at the laptop with a big smile on his face.

  1. But why did they have to take Enterprise off of CBS.com so early! It is the only series I havent seen all of and I was making my way thru it. Then poof they announce that in the future Netflix will have them and they disappear! Very frustrated having to wait…

I’m happy with any development that allows more people to be introduced to DS9. A simply fantastic show that was often overlooked. Don’t be turned off by the early episodes! By the time it hit season 4, it was in full stride and the final multi-season arcs were spectacular.

I wonder of the good people of Netflix have any notion of the Trekker onslaught they may be poised to unleash. How many Trek fans, I wonder, will join just to gain access to the complete canon? And how many existing members, I wonder, will abruptly begin to push their bandwidth quotae to the limit as they serially watch each series? While certainly a clever choice commercially, one can conceive that this might, alone, push Netflix’ servers farther than they are designed to go.

Truly a no-brainer, good marketing choice, for all trekkers out there.

I can only hope the big-money companies will soon join the side of dropping bandwidth caps to allow their product to flow through the tubes without hindrance or hesitation.

Oh, wow that is actually a long time away. The TOS seasons recently appeared in the search as “not available” instead of the usual “disc only” or not appearing at all. @ Retroist – I can’t wait to sample the Andorian brandy, but first…….the Tranya!!
