Coleco released the ColecoVision game console in 1982. That same year, to win over the Atari VCS crowd, Coleco released the Expansion Module 1. A unit which allowed the user to play Atari VCS game cartridges on the ColecoVision. Now I don’t have to tell you how impossible such a thing would be today, but you have to give credit to Coleco for making it work then.
My grandparents had one of these units. Until they threw it out a few months ago :(

@critanime, to the untrained eye, the EM1 looks like it is missing parts, like an incomplete device. However, I think I would have asked about it first.. Feel for you man.

Lets be honest about this. These things are worthless if your not a collector. And my grandparents never used it because they didn’t like the VCS games……

Strange fungal thing on my hand 1.
I traded my Emerson Arcadia 2001 (my parents got one at a timeshare presentation) for a Colecovision and this module back in the mid 80s; a lopsided trade if I say so myself. Of course, years later when Arcadias were selling for $200 (they’re pretty worthless now in collector circles), I regretted it, but I got lots of playtime with the Colecovision and the expansion. My parents sold it at a garage sale a few years later for $10.
What amazes me is the simplicity of it.
My DSL router had more parts than this thing.
They tried to keep it simple back then didn’t they?
Actually, I opened it up. There’s practically nothing inside the module! But it works! :-)
