Trailer Tuesday: Streets of Fire

I am not ashamed in saying how much I love the cult movie, Streets of Fire. It has one of the best soundtracks from a movie out of the 80′s, it has the gorgeous Diane Lane, and has the most epic sledgehammer duel in any movie ever put on celluloid. Did I just type that last bit? It’s also got a great turn by Williem Dafoe as the genuinely scary Raven Shaddock, leader of the motorcycle gang the Bombers. It also has the best tag line on the movie poster, “A rock & roll fable”. It’s an odd mix of so many styles…the 1950′s merges with the 80′s in a dreamlike cityscape. See for yourself in the trailer below.

If you want to get your friends together and have a blast watching a popcorn flick then you could do much worse than adding Streets of Fire to you Netflix queue.

A unique film. But I was sure Michael Beck was in this, and seeing the trailer reminded me of The Warriors somehow.
Then I see Deborah Van Valkenburgh, who was in that one. Then notice Walter Hill also directed this one. Would make a great double-bill.
Any reason to watch the slam-tastic The Warriors again is fine by me.
    Queued up.

You know…I just realized at the 1:26 mark of the trailer we have ourselves a Bill Paxton sighting!

  3. Dax says:

Is it wrong to admit that the Diane Lane sucker punch moment is one of my favorite movie moments ever?

    That *sounds* wrong…

  4. Ilya Chentsov says:

The biker at 1:30 reminded me of Bill Murray.

@Ilya That is one Lee Ving, friend. Most famous to me as being one Mr. Boddy from the Clue movie. :)

@Dax It does sound wrong, friend, but it is still the truth.

    Lee Ving?
Reminds me that I love living in the city.
I’ll buy more beer to anyone who gets my drift.

And thinking of Diane Lane made me realize this movie would also make a great double bill with The Stains, where she also rocks out.
I’m partial to double-bills. Used to be the only way to enjoy movies (back when time stood still).
