Last week Indican Pictures was kind enough to send me a screener for their upcoming Sci-Fi film, Dark Metropolis. A film that takes equal parts of the Sci-Fi channel’s Dune, Equilibrium, and a smidgen of the Memento before throwing them in a blender and being presented to the viewer as one satisfying beginning to what could be a new Science Fiction franchise. At least I truly hope there shall be additional Dark Metropolis films. Take a moment to watch the trailer posted below.
From Indican Pictures Synopsis:
“Mankind has lost a 300-year war against a genetically enhanced race that man created, known as the “Ghen” – who control the planet Earth from advanced underground cities. An entire new universe has risen inside the remnants of our world known as Hollow Earth. Humans now work the surface in factories as slaves in the New World Order with pockets of resistance carrying on the fight. A rising Ghen Politician Crecilius urges his people to annihilate the remaining human population unleashing a shocking secret that will change the world forever.”
The film will be considered low budget (That is not a bad thing), it is an Indie production after all, and I have no information on how much it cost to create, but I say in all truthfulness that it’s director and crew have really created something special here, something that deserves to be viewed in a theatrical run. The director, Stewart St. John who got his start with Hanna-Barbera and is the writer of over fifty episodes of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers really deserves kudos for his directorial debut.
The DVD is scheduled to hit the shelves on January 18th, 2011. Do yourself a favor and make sure to pick it up for a viewing…I’ve watched it twice now already.
