My Pet Monster

For kids a little too hardcore or Halloween enthused to enjoy My Buddy or Kid Sister, there was My Pet Monster, a friendly monster doll introduced by the American Greetings card company (like Ziggy!) parlayed into a Saturday morning cartoon show in 1986.

My Pet Monster was easily one of my top favorite things in its time, but I’m afraid like many of those things, he ended up getting donated to some charity or something as my wicked stepmother’s way of punishing me for not cleaning my room. The joke’s on her. Several years ago I found a My Pet Monster in very good condition inside a dumpster right next door to my house. I gave him a good cleaning, of course, but rescuing him from a dumpster makes him that much more endearing.
