Is the Trailer for ‘The Shining’ the Actual Film?

The trailer for Kubrick’s The Shining is intense and once you see it, hard to forget. I have often though about the bloody elevator and what Kubrick was getting at over the years, and I know others have done the same. So I was really happy to read this post by Jane Hu that asks a question I had not considered, Is the Trailer for ‘The Shining’ the Actual Film? It is a great read for film fans and especially Shining Fans.

  1. @Retroist Great link, sir. Very interesting to read.

I first saw this trailer at my favorite Drive-In from my youth, the 62 Drive-In, and I can vividly remember being on the playground while this trailer was projected above me…when the blood vomits forth from the elevators, I and the other ten or so children ran for the safety of our family vehicles. Ah…good memories. Ended up seeing the Shining there when it was released and the place was packed…so very good marketing on Kubrick’s part. :)

  2. Wow. I will never forget the time I saw that trailer at the movie trailer. I can’t recall if I was 6 or 7 years old but that trailer has haunted me ever since. Despite the fact that it’s a traumatic experience for a little kid, I have to say it’s a great work of art.
