Ahh the Red Box. I remember when I got mine for Xmas, I ran upstairs to my bedroom and played with the dice for a few minutes and then I sat in my bed and read the whole thing from cover to cover. Then I read through the blue box and the first module I received, The Isle of Dread. I couldn’t wait to get to playing…












These boxes remind me of how much I enjoy all the Larry Elmore art from all the D&D stuff. Yes, I am aware that Elmore did follow the goofy rule of women must wear special revealing armor that makes no sense but all these covers and paintings are fond memories for me.

I went to the bookstore today and what did I see? Wizards released a start box set for 4th Ed that is an exact copy of the original one above. Same red color, same artwork on the cover, just change the TSR logo for the Wizards logo and poof, you get the idea.
