As promised, I finally got a video of Halo 2600 on my home MAME arcade cabinet. I’m using the Z26 emulation on a PC for this particular cabinet. I’m very impressed by the game play of Halo 2600. Definitely a cut above what came out ‘back in the day’. The action is great, the real challenge being that the enemies can shoot in almost any direct, but you are only able to shoot horizontally. Who knows if I’ll ever get a chance to go through all the levels! I wish the sound in the movie was better, but I only have my little LG cell phone to make movies with. Either way, enjoy!!

Great video – and a great looking cabinet. I have a MAME cabinet too – but not nearly so fancy looking as yours. You inspired me to try to get a 2600 emulator on mine.
Z26 is a great 2600 emulator for PCs – especially older ones. The cabinet in the video is using a PC that’s still using Windows 98. I also have a couple Apples at home as well – the Stella emulator seems to work best for OSX machines.
Thanks for the cab compliment – this is actually the 2nd arcade cab I’ve built. I’m building a 1980s style game room at home, and almost all of my planned cabs are going to be scratch-built MAME machines.
@arcadepuppy Very nice! Thank you for the vid, I would love to see those future cabinets. :)
