When you think of any decade before the 1960s, many of the images you conjure up are probably in Black & White. Sure they had color film and it was used often, but if you grew up in the average household and were addicted to the family photo album, you most likely saw things in good ol’ B&W. So naturally when you see photos from even earlier eras, like the 1930s and 1940s, it can be pretty shocking to see them in color. The Library of Congress has posted a great group of color photos on Flickr from those decades and each of them is a real gem.
