The Pioneer LaserActive was a monstrous and short-lived Laserdisc-based game console released by Pioneer in 1993. In addition to the narrow selection of LaserActive games, separately sold add-on modules expanded the hardware to include compatibility with other systems. So by spending more money you could play Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16 game cartridges, HuCards and CDs. I do not thin the system stood a chance against its competition at the time, plus the ads didn’t really sell the system well:
