I’ve often thought the same thing, but Peachy comes up with some brilliant stuff – for instance – The Ghostbusters cover that he put together. It’s comical, and I’m starting to like it better than Ray Parker Jr’s version.

Favorite TV themes
These are some good ones, but one of my favorites is EXTREMELY hard to find – Thunder in Paradise (not the new one – the original written by a couple of the guys from Pablo Cruise)

…crescendo…THUNDER
There’s a hurricane blowing…

That one.

Like many TV themes, it was saddled with a show that was just poorly done, but that could have been pretty cool, had they gone a different route.

Worst use of CGI in a movie
@badwolf yeah I thought the CGI on District 9 was pretty intense. At some points it looked almost believable with the weapons and mech.

Arcade Memories and The End
I have 3 kids ages, 6, 3, and 1. None of them will ever know the magic of the arcade and $10. There was nothing better in life at the age of 8 to 14 than establishing a time to meet back with mom and then sprinting off to the arcade. I had two that I frequented one was called Time Out and the other was Aladdin’s Castle. Both were well stocked.

I had a routine I followed every time.
1. Get quarters or tokes.
2. Walk around the entire arcade to see what games were there and which ones were open.
3. Run an unwritten formula on how best to spend my $$$ and get longest playing time. New games were usually limited to a buck or two since you always had to spend money to learn them.
4. Once the new games were played, this usually meant waiting for other players to leave – move on to the standby classics, Pac Man, Karate Champ, and Elevator Action.
5. With .50 left go over to pinball and make the last precious quarters last as long as possible.

I remember the exact moment when I knew arcades were going to die. It wasn’t when Nintendo dropped or Playstation was on the horizon. It was when I was watching a kid younger than me play Mortal Kombat. He finished the round and quickly pulled out a piece of paper. He then did the finishing move. This was unprecedented. It was an unwritten rule that your expertise in an arcade game came from your hands and mind, not cheat sheets. I knew then that arcades were finished.

McDonaldland Memories
Great idea for a nostalgia trip.

For me here in the uk, i remember the first mc’ds being built in my home city (83). For months id go shoping with my mum on a saturday afternoon, walking past the boarded off front with ‘coming soon’ stickers attached along the length.

Finaly it opened in the high summer of 83, and in we went. Being a brit with a typical upbringing not consisting of what you’d find on the mc’ds menu, fish and chips ect…

Fillet o’fish, had to be… the truth ofcourse it tastes nothing like bloody fish, and was plain awfull.:)

Thankfully the fries were enough to pull it back, the chocolate shake was to become a constant in my diet for the next 20 years, the cheese burgers became quarter pounders when i got a job.

Happy days… ill go back for sure one day. As far as the characters go, id say they were lesser known over here in the uk, i remember ronald being plasterd on all the adverts, but the others were seldom used.
