Exploding H-Bombs In Space

For 4th of July, NPR did a radio special and posted in their website about a very exciting light show that happened in the Summer of 1962. During that year, the US government exploded an atomic bomb in space. The results, while frightening, were pretty spectacular. They put together a video with some grainy footage and pics. Even with the medium quality they are very worth checking out.

After that go and listen to and read the whole story.

  1. There’s a great documentary about these blasts called “The Rainbow Bombs.” It’s on DVD. Makes me wonder if this is where the ozone hole actually came from.
