Goodbye Little Orphan Annie

After over 85 years, today will be the last day of the classic comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie”. While Annie has dwindled in comic popularity over the years. She managed to stay relevant by expanding into Radio, theater and of course movies. In recent years most papers stopped carrying the classic strip, but others like the New York Daily News (who have carried the strip since it started in 1924), have held on and kept her alive. Now who will defeat those pesky South Seas Pirates? Orphan Annie — you will be missed, but never forgotten.

    Wow, indeed. We should look on the bright side though…it looks to me like Daddy Warbucks is summoning his X-Men to his side in that last panel. They’ll find Annie in no time at all.
