It made math (mostly) fun, Dragnet references cool (with the “Mathnet” segment”, and PBS cool if you over the age of 5. Between the “But Who’s Counting?” game show parody, the Pac-Man parody “Mathman,” and the gritty math cops world of “Mathnet,” there really wasn’t anything else like Square One TV on the air then (it debuted in 1987) or since. It’s probably pretty hard to combine basic math education with wacky humor.
