Kenner Zip Strip Pocket Pack

Oh how I wanted these style racers when I was young. We had a blacktop playground at my elementary school and racing zip cars was all the rage through most of 2nd grade. I watched jealously from the Monkey Bars.

I had one of those in 1969.How many had the track snap back and cut their fingers.I did. After that I wrote a letter to kenner telling them what happened. They wrote back and told me to throw the track away. Then they shipped me a toy before it even came out in the stores called “flip your top”.I was one of the first to have one.Zip strips didnt last long and I dont see any flip your top sets anymore either. They sent me the bigger double paddle set.It was a top that spun by pulling the T stick(like ssp)and it spun on a paddle with a maze on one side and flat on the other.I guess zip strip was one of the unsafe toys we hear about now.

Loved the Zip Strip. I was on the box. Got paid $25 at that time (1968), about 3-4 years ago I found one on EBay, selling for $50. Yes, I bought it, how could I not?
