In early 1991, the biggest pop stars of the day gathered as Voices that Care to record “Voices That Care,” a charity song pledging support for the American troops fighting in the first Gulf War. Fox debuted the song in a big prime-time event, and the song went top 30. It wasn’t quite the new “We Are the World” it clearly aimed to be…largely because the U.S. military so thoroughly drubbed the Iraqis out of Kuwait in such a timely manner that by the time “Voices That Care” hit the air, the war was over.
Michael Bolton and the Fresh Prince would never work together again.
