J.R. has always been a hound dog with the ladies and in Season 12 it all comes back to bite him. A dalliance with an Arkansas cutie leads J.R. to the wrong end of a shotgun, 10 years of hard labor, a prison break and the altar. And that’s just the start of 26 episodes of commotion and emotion that also include a tell-all movie (bankrolled by the first Mrs. J.R. Ewing) that threatens to unveil every low-down trick J.R. ever pulled and a rival oil man scheming to destroy the Ewing empire, taking the clan from Southfork all the way to Austria and Russia!
That is the description from the DVD and boy is it apt. Now if you are a fan of over the top television, I am sure you are no stranger to the classic TV show Dallas. If you are a stranger well you are in luck because they have been released every season of the show onto DVD methodically. We are now at the penultimate Season 12, and the Ewing clan is about to enter the 1990s. You would think that as we moved into that new decade the folks at Dallas might have seen the handwriting on the wall for over the top dramas, but the opposite is true and they go all out in season 12. With more humor, more crazy plots and much more on locations shoots.
All of this makes season 12, in retrospect, one of the most enjoyable seasons I have watched to date.
So what can you expect from 12 without mentioning spoilers? Well, JR is getting more evil, George Kennedy joins the cast and I cannot believe how much better this show gets when they actually film more on-location outdoor scenes. Some of them are so pretty, I found myself thinking it would have been nice to see this in Blu-Ray. So what are you waiting for pick upDallas: The Complete Twelfth Season on DVD and while your at it you might as well pre-order Dallas: The Complete Thirteenth Season. Why was this show ever canceled??
