Check out our New Project “The Bike Patrol”

A highlight of my week is when I receive the illustration for that week’s podcast from Christopher Tupa. Almost as soon as he came aboard to illustrate the podcast, we started talking about doing a project together. Well the talk is over and this week I am pleased as punch to announce our new collaboration, “The Bike Patrol”. “The Bike Patrol” is a weekly web comic/kids book that revolves around a group of pre-teens who ride their bicycles around their suburban 1980s neighborhood trying to find adventure and right wrongs.

I have really enjoyed working on this project and hope you will all return each week to see how the adventure is progressing (I will post reminders here naturally). So drop by the site at http://www.thebikepatrol.net/, read the story and post your comments, share your own bike memories and don’t forget to subscribe via your newsreader. I am very excited about the story and I think you will enjoy it.

Read and Enjoy the The Bike Patrol

This is so cool! The story brings back fond memories from my youth. My bike patrol was often a solo operation, but there were times when a gang would get together to tour the neighborhoods, especially the “tree streets.” I’ll go to the bike patrol site to share any stories I can remember.

I love how the Retroist is always able to capture a snapshot in time that reinvigorates my memories and sense of nostalgia. In this instance, the inspired artwork of Christopher Tupa really brings the story to life…I envy his sense of vision and perspective. I look forward to future installments of this imaginative graphic novel.

Thanks. My son is hitting that age where he’s out on his own on bike, getting into adventures himself.

JayP, that is a great time to be a kid. Hope he has some memorable adventures.
