Vintage Hygiene Film: Cindy Goes to a Party (1949)

Poor Cindy doesn’t get invited to parties. Because she is a tomboy. But it’s okay, because she has a full evening planned – a full evening of sobbing in her room. After crying herself to sleep, she’s awakened by her fairy godmother, who gives her a fancy dress and takes her to the party (presumably as her plus one). Once there, Cindy quickly abandons her tomboyish ways, helped along by the etiquette tips that helpfully appear on screen with a wave of the fairy’s wand. One such tip: “don’t break things.” As good advice today as it was then.

About Brian Boone

From the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Northwest, I contribute to the Retroist, write for trivia publications, and blog about music in a humorous fashion at www.lovehatesociety.com. I feel about "Back to the Future" the way you feel about "Star Wars." Also, I'm married and have a child (sorry ladies, orphans).
