I am not a huge fan of the original “The Abominable Dr. Phibes”, so I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to put this on my movie list. Oh year, well at least it’s got Vincent Price in it, was what had in mind. Now I see the good in the original Phibes, but I would like to go one record as saying, the only thing I liked about this sequel is Price. If he was still alive and did infomercials at 2 in the morning, I would stay up till 2. His magnetic presence is that undeniable. It is not that the film is not interesting at times in fact it has some sinister setups in it that would be worth of the Saw franchise, but all of it feels so unnecessary. Phibes was not a movie that screamed sequel and because of that, this all feels so extraneous.
Oh well. Although the Scorpion scene is the most interesting in my book, it is not available online. So here is an interesting death scene from “Dr. Phibes Rises Again!” involving a snake and a phone.
