In 1991, TSR unleashed this kind-of-fun-to-play simplified Dungeons & Dragons board game upon the world and the above ad was in every comic book for months. When they “easy to master” what they meant is that they basically took out the roleplaying component of the game. That way the game could be played by “cool” people without having to be in character while they played. Overall it is a passable board game. It is well designed and themed, but that is about it. It lacks the excitement of “playing without a net” that an RPG can bring to the table. The only use I had for it was as a clever way to introduce unsuspecting friends to fantasy gaming.

the HOURS I spent playing D&D and all the books I had. Miss those days.
Those are hours well spent. I would enjoy spending some time doing that nowadays.
A retroist Dungeons & Dragons podcast would be nice. I once heard a 4.1 player say that Thaco is wacko. I disagree. I miss the classic versions when TSR was in charge.
Who are you who can summon fire without flint or tinder?
A D&D podcast is definitely in the works and will be on the site soonish.
