Cutaway images like the one pictured above fascinated me as a kid and I still find them very cool today. Frank Soltesz did a bunch of these cutaways for the Saturday Evening Post in the 1940s and 1950s. The cutaways were meant to demonstrate how things worked and among the things Soltesz illustrated were a brewery, office building and a fish pier. Happily many of these have been collected into the Frank Soltesz Collection on Flickr.
