Five Greatest Guest Musical Performances on the Muppet Show

The Muppet Show was a great place for stars to let down their hair and have some fun. This rang especially true for the musical guests who often looked like they were about to crack up as they sang songs while being attacked by spiders o taunted by crocodiles. Here are 5 of the best musical performances by those guests.

5. Joel Gray
Gray sings a muppetized version of “Willkommen” from the hit musical Cabaret.

4. Elton John
Sir Elton is more colorful than any Muppet in this performance of his hit, “Crocodile Rock”.

3. Harry Belafonte
Harry sings his hit “The Banana Boat Song” (for the first time on TV?). It was a perfect song for the Muppet Show, and Fozzie and friends give it the business.

2. Rita Morena
Rita sasses up the stage with her version of “Fever”, but is constantly interrupted by an uncooperative Animal.

1. Dizzy Gillespie
Jazz Legend Dizzy Gillespie funks up the “St. Louis Blues” with Muppet house band, “Electric Mayhem”.

    Awesome list!

I have to add Peter Sellers’ hilarious performance. I love how at first he seems to startle himself when he starts singing.

  2. I’d also include Alice Cooper on the list, not because his performance was great but just becuase it is so strange to think that Alice Cooper was ever on the Muppet Show!
