What if Super Mario Bros Had Been Released on the Atari 2600

I am pretty sure the Atari 2600 would not have been able to handle the complexity of Super Mario Bros, but this video is a great imagining of the graphical treatment it would have received. Ahh…. nothing like a good “what if”.

  1. the pizza says:

ha. i think even that’s a little complex looking.

  2. Jonathan says:

That is TOOO Hilarious.!!!! Bet the Box art looked awesome though.

  3. Pab Sungenis says:

Cute concept, but it looks too good. Remember that 2600′s only had two sprites and two missiles; that many moving objects would cause a hell of a lot of flicker on a 2600.

That’s closer to what a 5200 version would have looked like, but a little blockier.

  4. Metal Misfit says:

    Gee whiz bang! That’s cool!

  5. Old School says:

Love it. Plan to tag this on an uncoming issue of Kickin’ it Old School.

    Thanks!
