So I was chatting with a fellow blogger who writes about comic books and no surprise, he spends most of his weekends doing comic related stuff. Conventions, stores, etc. It was not surprise since its usually our obsessions we blog about. So as we chatted about this very subject he asked me what does a retro blogger do with their weekend. So I figured I would post my standard weekend stuff here and this weekend that just passed is a good example of how I try and spend my time (I often have to clean stuff up and do errands, but I will omit those boring tasks).
I usually go to a local Diner for breakfast on Saturday morning … mmmm eggs. Afterward I go through town looking for garage sales/estate sales. If a flea market is scheduled I try and head over there. This weekend, it rained so I went over to AS&S. I try and look for deals on stuff that interests me. I could of course buy lots of stuff I want to post on this site on ebay, but to me the challenge of getting things for a deal is half the fun.
I try and see a movie each weekend. I love the act of going to the movies, even if it turns out to be a junk flick. Sitting in a dark theater is one of the great joys in life. I also try and catch up on my netflix. I watch a lot of older movies – stuff from the 1970s and 1980s. Recently I have been watching all the non-animated Disney films of the 60s and 70s. Love em. That is usually how I fill up Saturday. At the end of the day I can always be found on the web, blogging or posting. If a site is in my blogroll or newsreader this is the time I make sure I have read everything I might have missed this week.
On Sunday I go bowling in the morning. I am not a great bowler, but I enjoy it and I am getting more consistent. The bowling alley also has an arcade and I love classic arcade games and will actively seek them out. I drove about a half hour to a full arcade today, which was awesome. I will post more about it this week. Afterward I come home and do the bulk of my blogging and personal writing. Then I eat a late lunch. Try and hang out with friends play some online games or a board game. Than its TV time. I watch all the sitcoms that I taped that week and eat dinner.
The night ends with more web time. Like now. I am working on my media center, while I surf the web looking for Monster Pops. So that is it. Not sure this is interesting, but what the heck. I felt like sharing. Are you a retroist? What do you do with your spare time?
